Upperclassmen
Hi RPMS! We’re Nafiza Meher and Scott Koh, your Upperclassmen Chairs. Our mission is to provide events and resources for juniors and seniors who are entering the medical school application process or pursuing other paths of study before entering medical school, and to foster community and connection between upperclassmen and underclassmen.
Events
Upperclassmen-Underclassmen Mentorship Program (starting mid-November)
- Opportunities to connect with upperclassmen pre-med members through group and one-on-one mentoring on classes, volunteering, research and MCAT studying
Personal Statement Workshop (mid-December)
- Tips on how to begin to write the personal statement for medical school
Gap Year Panel (early-January)
- Showcases various perspectives on taking a gap year from those who recently took a gap year and are now in medical school and beyond
Mock Interviews (late-February)
- As interviews are a critical step in the medical school application process, alumni physicians will conduct mock interviews for Rice applicants to provide them useful feedback on their performance and help them become comfortable with the interviewing process
Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) (mid-March)
- Provides additional practice for an emerging part of the med-school process, MMIs, which function as a series of scenarios/interview questions to challenge the interviewee in unique and unexpected ways
